Valentines Day Roses - Why They Cost So Much? - The Flower Shoppe

Red Valentines Day Roses Beautiful Order

February 14th. Valentines Day. The day when there are lines of men running out-the-door of our flower shop. Where they leave, carrying bundles of long stem red roses wrapped and often arranged in vases.

Cost Of Valentines Day Roses Vs. Other Days Of The Year

It actually isn't because the flower shop itself is gouging their customers. Far from it! It's actually an economic reason, and it's a fairly simple one. The law of supply and demand.

Flower Farmers Can Only Grow A Certain Number Of Roses

Flower farmers can only grow so many red roses, and being that roses can only be stored for so long before they die-- the number of roses that flower shops can buy is therefore limited to the amount the farmers can grow.

A Red Rose Bidding War

For Valentines Day, every flower shop in the world wants to have some. A bidding war then happens because everyone needs/wants to get some, which makes the price of the roses sky rocket as all the flower shops bid higher and higher to get some of the coveted supply of roses in their store for Valentines Day.

It's obvious then why the flowers cost so much, in order to make any money off of the roses, shops have to charge much more than normal in order to re-coop the money they've spent on the flowers.

This isn't to gouge customers, it's actually to make some money. Often times the flower shops don't make all that much off of the roses they sell on Valentines Day. Literally nickels and dimes!

Roses truly become a commodity on Valentines Day (Mother's Day too.) Prices surge because demand is high for the flowers and everyone wants some and they go to the highest bidders

We always have some reasonably priced red Valentines Day roses in our shop. We've been in business for over 40 years and have built wonderful relationships with our flower farmers.
Call or stop in and we'll get your Valentine some roses. (763) 784-2532

Tip: How To Make Snapdragons Stand Straight & Rigid in a Vase

Like many long stemmed flowers, Snapdragons at times grow all curvy. (Which sometimes is a fun look) There's a super simple trick to getting the stems to stand straight-as-a-board: 1. Clip off about two inches from the bottom of the stem and place in your vase of water. 2. Pinch off a nubbins from the top tip of the flower. (About a fourth inch.) 3. Let the stems soak in the water for a few hours. After that- you'll see how straight the stems become. It's magical! We sell flowers from our coolers that you can take home and arrange yourself. Stop by today to get some.
